Last night we had a chance to check out the Pete Bjorn and John show at the onedeotzero Festival and they didn’t disappoint. It was a beautiful spring night and the outdoor setting was the perfect backdrop for their hour and fifteen minute set in front of a couple of hundred fans. They announced that this would be their last live show until March 2009 – Peter is staying in BsAs for a week on vacation and John is spending 7 weeks here for vacation and Spanish lessons. Hopefully after this break, they’ll be back in the studio to work on the follow-up album to 2006’s hugely successful Writers Block. In fact, just before playing the now ubiquitous song Young Folks, Bjorn announced, with perceived relief, that it would be the last time they would be playing it this year. I can only imagine they’re a bit tired of it too…
This was my third time seeing PB&J (Coachella 2007 and Maxwell’s in Hoboken, NJ previously) and last night they didn’t disappoint. The played all their hits as well as covers of both The Concretes and Joy Division. In addition, Peter’s girlfriend joined them on stage for the first time to sing the female part on Young Folks.
